A case (10) for a compact disc includes a lid (12) and a base (14) which are hinged together to allow the case (10) to be opened and closed by relative hinging movement therebetween. The case (10) further includes a platform (36) for supporting the disc, the platform (36) being contained within the lid (12) and the base (14) when the container is closed. A first edge of the platform (36) is rotatably connected to the lid (12) at a position spaced from the hinge and an opposite edge of the platform (26) is slidable relative to the base (14). When the case (10) is opened by hinging apart the lid (12) and the base (14), the platform (36) is lifted relative to the base (14).
