PURPOSE: A battery module failure determination method for an electric vehicle is provided to detect effectively a battery module failure and allow for determination on the early failure of the vehicle battery. CONSTITUTION: An electric vehicle comprises a battery pack constituted by a plurality of battery modules connected in serial with each other, wherein each battery module is constituted by a plurality of cells connected in serial with each other. A battery module failure determination method is characterized as using the following formula absolute value(((V1+V2+...+VN)-VModule)/(N-1)-VModule)>absolute value(Vdifference), wherein VModule is a module voltage, (V)_(difference) is an allowable battery voltage difference, and (V)_(1)+(V)_(2)+...(V)_(N) is the sum of module voltages.
