The present invention relates to a nucleic acid sequence encoding an 48kD Infectious Salmon Anaemia virus protein and to DNA fragments, recombinant DN A molecules, live recombinant carriers and host cells comprising this nucleic acid sequence. The invention also relates to a protein encoded by this sequence as well as to vaccines comprising this protein or antibodies agains t his protein. Moreover, the invention relates to the use of said nucleic acid sequence, protein or antibodies for diagnostic or vaccination purposes. Finally the invention relates to diagnostic kits comprising the nucleic acid , protein or antibodies against the protein.
