A reversible double lift'dobby in which the pattern cylinder moves two steps at a time on alternate picks has three sets of reading needles; one set reads the shed formed immediately after the pattern cylinder has moved either forwards or backwards; the other sets read the preceding and succeeding sheds, so that whichever way the dobby is running, the next shed is preselected. As shown in Fig. 5, an upper draw-hook 116a is controlled by a reading needle 113 through a push needle 114 and a hook needle 115 operated by a push-bar 120 and a lifting-bar 122. A lower drawhook 116b is controlled by a hook needle 1151 embraced by two push needles 114<SP>1</SP>, 114<SP>11</SP>, supporting reading needles 113<SP>1</SP>, 113<SP>11</SP>; a push-bar 119 has a notched flange and is continually reciprocated endwise so that when the lower hooks are being set during forward running, it actuates the push needles for the succeeding shed, when as during backward running, it is in a position to actuate the push needles for the preceding shed. The movement of the push needles 114 &c. may be transmitted to the hook needles 115 &c. by bell-crank levers, the lifting bars 121, 122 being omitted. The invention is also applied to the open shed dobby of Specification 751,742. |
