751,969. Making cemented pile fabrics. BRINTONS, Ltd. Jan. 14, 1955 [Jan. 27, 1954], No. 2542/54. Classes 142 (2) and 142 (4). In a machine for making carpets by sticking pile tufts on to a backing as described in Specification 703,075, the tuft yarn spools 101 are manipulated by pairs of hooks 122, 123 which engage successive links of 'the conveyer chain 102 as it approaches the working position 3. The hooks of each pair slide in opposite sides of a rotating spider 120 and have followers 126 riding in stationary cam grooves 130, 131, whereby the spool frames 101 are given movements such as an outward bodily movement to plant the yarns 145 on the backing, and a clockwise swinging movement counteracting their circumferential travel round the spider whilst the tufts are being cut. The mechanism may be used in a loom for weaving pile fabrics. Specification 722,260, [Group XXII], and 751,968 also are referred to. |
