PURPOSE: A control apparatus of a clutch for an inverter washing machine and a method thereof are provided to prevent damage or ignition of a solenoid in wrong operation of a circuit by detecting voltage of a direct current link end through the solenoid, and to protect the washing machine against vibration by stopping load in disconnecting the solenoid. CONSTITUTION: A clutch control device of an inverter washing machine is composed of a solenoid(50) controlling operation of a clutch; a switching element(30) turned on and off to drive the solenoid; a switching element driving unit(20) applying a driving signal to a base of the switching element to turn on and off the switching element; a voltage detecting unit(40) detecting voltage level of a direct current link end connected to the solenoid; and a microcomputer(10) comparing the voltage level from the voltage detecting unit with the reference value, and outputting a control signal to control power supply of the solenoid and load. Damage of the solenoid is prevented by detecting voltage of the direct current link end, and the washing machine is protected against vibration by stopping load in disconnecting the solenoid. |
