The device comprises a housing, a reservoir (2) for said hair dye, at least one opening (7) for said hair dye to pass through, and means for moving the hair dye from said reservoir to the hair via said at least one opening for the hair dye, wherein first heating means (10) are provided for heating the hair dye before said hair dye passes through said at least one opening for the hair dye. The method comprises the heating of the hair dye prior to the application of the hair.
