METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MULTI-STEP USER AUTHENTICATION USING ACTIVE USER AUTHENTICATION CARD OF USB MODULE METHOD

PURPOSE: A method and a system for multi-step user authentication using an active user authentication card of a USB(Universal Serial Bus) module method are provided to protect the system from the illegal copy and the damage of the data by preventing the illegal access of a PC and an unauthorized person through the real time authentication at constant time intervals. CONSTITUTION: The authentication card(10) includes an USB connector(11) and a real time password generator(12) by communicating with a main authentication tool(30). A client tool(20) comprises a USB port(21) transmitting/receiving the data with the authentication card, a client interface(22) and a communication part(23) transmitting/receiving the data with the main authentication tool(30). The main authentication tool(30) comprises a connecting part(31) transmitting/receiving the data for the user authentication with the authentication card, a card discriminating part(32) confirming the legal user, a random number generating part(33) transmitting a pseudo random number to the authentication card, and a password matching part(34) comparing an encrypted function value from by the authentication card with the own encrypted function value.
