A method for impregnating wooden items, in partiuclar poles situated in mari ne environment against attack from Teredo, where the method includes the following steps: d) a hole is formed in parallel with the fibre orientation of the wooed, e) the hole is then filled with an impregnating agent containing a biodegradable chelating agent, f) after which the hole is closed.
