发明名称 Statistical record controlled machine
摘要 753,912. Statistical apparatus. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. April 27, 1954, [April 30, 1953], No. 12131/54. Class 106 (1). [Also in Group VIII] Apparatus for serial number punching record cards comprises punching means, means to feed records to the punching means, an emitter for emitting digit representing impulses, means for initially connecting the punching means to the emitter to cause a designation of an initial serial number in a first record of a series, a serial number counter, means for setting the counter to the number of a serial number sequence next following the initial number, means to switch the control of the punching means from the emitter to the serial number counter after the initial number has been punched, means to change the serial number counter to a setting corresponding to the next number of the sequence after each record is punched, quantity control means to switch the control of the punching means back to the emitter when a predetermined number of records have been serial number punched, and means controlled by the quantity control means for resetting the serial number counter. The invention is applied to a known reproducer punch. Each master card 10 leaves the hopper R and passes under a master sensing brush 14 and a line of sensing brushes 15 and a line of checking brushes 16. The detail cards 11 leave hopper P and pass a master sensing brush 17, a line of punches 18 and a set of checking brushes 19. The brush 14-operates in conjunction with a spherical control hole in the master card to transfer the sensed data to a selected field on a detail card. The brush 17 is employed for field selection of gang punching and for suspension of master card feeding when the machine is employed for gang punching. Connections are made between brushes 15 and 18 so that when a perforation is sensed in a master card 10 a perforation is punched in the related detail card 11. In the checking stations the master card and relative detail card are sensed for agreement. If the cards do not agree the machine is stopped. The serial number counter and quantity counter each comprise a plurality of mechanically independent but electrically associated accumulators of known type as shown in Fig. 3. Each accumulator order is mounted on an individual plate and comprises a register device and a drive device with a clutch between. The clutch is controlled by a lever between advance and stop magnets. To enter a true number the advance magnet is energized at a differential time of a cycle selected by a representation of the number on a record card. A mechanical knock-off in the drive gearing restores the clutch after a differential advance of the accumulator. The carry from one accumulator to the next is carried out in well-known manner under control of contacts associated with each register wheel. The accumulator read-out mechanism is also of well-known type and is shown in Fig. 6. The plate 250 is stationary with respect to a rotatable wiper 253 mounted on the register wheel 211. Emitter EM shown in Fig. 8b transmits a series of differentially timed pulses to the digit representing contact points to transmit these pulses according to the contact segment 259 contacted by a wiper to punch magnets PM to punch the serial number in each detail card. The circuit is shown in Figs. 8a, 8b. Referring to Fig. 8a, a 110 volt supply is applied to transformer T and rectifier R to provide 40 volts D.C. across the lines 260, 261. Blank cards are inserted in the feed hopper P and the master cards are placed in hopper R. The start key completes a circuit from line 260 via relay R19 to line 261. Relay R19 closes contacts R19-1 to complete a circuit via relay R24, which in turn energize motor relay RHD-1 and punch clutch magnets PCM. The punch card picker operates to feed the first detail card. In the first machine cycle the quantity counter is reset to 000. In the second cycle a card is advanced in the punch unit to the punch brush station. At 7.5 time relay RSM6 is energized through a circuit extending from line 260 via the pick-up coil of RSN16 to line 261. The energization of relay RSN16 establishes a circuit to energize the read clutch magnet RCM. The third cycle is used to enter the quantity of cards to be punched in the first group in the quantity counter. Any prepunched data on the master card is reproduced into the detail cards in customary manner through the reading brushes 15. In the fourth cycle the serial number counter moves one step and stands at 002 and 002 pulses are transmitted through emitter EM to the exit hubs 290 and thence to the punch hubs and magnets causing the second card to be punched 002. Energization of relay RSN3 indicates that the quantity counter stands at 999 and the required number of cards have been serial number punched. Contacts RSN3-2 will close to transmit an impulse to read clutch magnet RCM, causing a new master card to be fed. Provision is made for stopping the machine if a mis-feed occurs in either the read feed or the punch feed, if either feed fails to feed a card, or if the cards become exhausted. Specification 442,534, [Group VIII], is referred to.
