The invention relates to a method for detecting wear of transport installations (1) comprising bearer cables (3) which are driven by a driving disk (4). The inventive method comprises the following steps: g) determination of the relative slip of the bearer cable (3) on the driving disk (4) during an initial and a return course along a defined distance, and in terms of a different load on both ends of the bearer cable (3); h) determination of a differential slip from the difference between the slip during the initial course and the return course, and; i) determination of the bearer cable wear on the basis of the relative differential slip.
