PURPOSE: A revetment functioning as an artificial reef is provided to prevent the erosion of a revetment caused by strong waves and the displacement of a revetment caused by earth pressure. CONSTITUTION: The revetment(1) functioning as an artificial reef(3) is composed of an upper structure(1b) and a lower structure(1a). The lower structure(1a) comprises the steps of placing a base plate(4) as a framed artificial reef(3) which functions as a reef to let fishes inhabit, connecting many vertical columns(5) and horizontal columns(6) vertically and horizontally, forming a rugged part(5a) on the surface of the vertical columns(5) and the horizontal columns(6), placing mortar(12) on the rugged part(5a) to have rough surface, erecting a rear side wall(7) provided with discharge holes(8) on the backside of the base plate(4), and forming an upper frame of the artificial reef(3) in the shape of a gable roof, and the upper structure(1b) is formed by building wave dissipating blocks(10) vertically and horizontally, then covering.
