PURPOSE: An apparatus for cooling electrodes in electric furnace is provided to extend the life span of the electrodes by supplying cooling water into the body of the electrodes, thereby reducing wear amount of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION: In an electric furnace comprising electrodes(7) for providing each electrode holders(6) of a plural electrode arms(5) with a heating source to melt scrap charged into the furnace body, the apparatus for cooling the electrodes in the electric furnace comprises a main body part(10) comprising a moving base(13) vertically moved for a fixed base(11) fixed onto the upper surface of the electrode arms(5), and an operating arm(15) horizontally moved for the moving base(13); and a cooling part(30) which is connected to a central cooling inlet hole on the upper part of the electrodes(7), and in which a nozzle body connected to a cooling water line(9) is installed at the lower part of the front end of the operating arm(15) so that cooling water is supplied into the electrodes(7), wherein a cylinder member is mounted on the fixed base(11) to vertically move the moving base(13), a reciprocating plate is installed at the front end of the rod of the cylinder member, and a motor member for rotationally driving a pinion gear engaged with a rack gear on the lower surface of the operating arm(15) is put on the reciprocating plate, and wherein first and second stoppers are installed on the upper surface of the operating arm(15) with being spaced apart from each other in a certain distance, and the first and second stoppers have first and second limit switches respectively to control horizontal movement of the operating arm(15) by controlling forward and reverse rotational driving of the motor member.
