PURPOSE: A system for controlling operation between set top boxes and a method for controlling thereof are provided to normally drive a plurality of slave set top boxes with one master set top box, and limit operations of the slave set top boxes. CONSTITUTION: A master set top box is turned on(S110). It is checked whether an enciphered ID is received from a slave set top box(S115). If so, the enciphered ID is decoded(S120). It is checked whether the decoded ID is valid(S125). If not, an operation of the slave set top box is interrupted(S130). If so, the slave set top box is normally operated(S140). It is checked whether a certain time has passed(S145). If not, the normal operation of the slave set top box is continued.
