The invention concerns an aircraft (1) equipped with a main transponder system (10) operable by the flight crew, wherein is provided a system comprising at least a second transponder (20), or auxiliary transponder, designed to be activated, automatically during flight in case of failure of the main transponder (10) or manually (22) in case of hijacking, said second transponder (20) being installed in the aircraft (1) without being accessible from the cabin (3) or from the cockpit station (2). Said second transponder (20) emits beyond the hijackers' control, a specific code (S3) which makes the aircraft (1) visible to civil aviation authorities.
