A method of identifying a gene structure which involves the step of presuming translational domains forming a transcriptional unit and then identifying the start codon a method of identifying a gene structure which involves the step of selecting a plural number of codon pairs showing a large difference in appearance frequency from a codon having a reverse-complementary sequence in the base sequences of a plural number of translational domains having been identified and judging a translational domain having many codons with a higher appearance frequency in respective pairs as the true translational domain a method of identifying a gene structure with a base sequence showing a GC content exceeding 50% which involves the step of judging a codon in a translational domain wherein the GC contents of the first and third letters are less than a definite level as false programs for executing these methods recording media carrying these programs and being readable with a computer and a computed gene structure identification system using these programs.
