PURPOSE: A composition for improving the condition of scalp and hair is provided which contains a crude drug composition, together with conventional imidazole to inhibit depletion and promote hair growth while enhancing antidandruff efficacy caused by inhibition of hyperkeratinization. Therefore, the composition is effective for reduction of dandruff, itch and alopecia of the skin, improvement of damaged skin and enhancement of hair condition. CONSTITUTION: A composition for improving the condition of scalp and hair contains 0.001 to 10.0% by weight of imidazole, a crude drug component 1/10 to 100 times of imidazole and additionally 0.001 to 10% by weight of piroctone olamine or 0.001 to 0.5% by weight of zinc pyrithione, based on the total weight of the composition. The crude drug component contains Theae folium extract, Glycyrrhizae Radix extract and comfrey(Symphytum officinale) extract. The composition is formulated into a shampoo, a hair conditioner, a hair tonic or hair treatment agent.
