A glass panel and a method of manufacturing the glass panel, the glass panel wherein a pair of plate glasses (1, 2) are disposed through a clearance part (V), the peripheral edge parts thereof are sealingly connected to each other with connecting sealant (4), a discharge hole (5) for discharging gas in the clearance part (V) having a getter storage space (6) is provided in either of both plate glasses (1, 2), a getter (7) is stored in the getter storage space (6), and the discharge hole (5) is sealingly closed by a cover body (8); the method of manufacturing the glass panel comprising the steps of sucking gas in the clearance part (V) through the discharge hole (5) with the getter (7) stored in the getter storage space (6) after the peripheral edge parts of both plate glasses (1, 2) sealingly connected to each other with the connection sealant (4) and sticking the cover body (8) to one plate glass (1) to sealingly close the discharge hole (5).
