This invention provides a driving link of chain and its application in a transmission. The driving link of chain comprises at least a cable-shaped actuating member penetrating into an annular engaging member, whose ends are connected to each other to form a link of chain. The cable-shaped actuating member can be one kind or several kinds of tightwire, iron chain, steel ball and resistance glue-rope. The annular engaging member can be either a spring or a string of steel loop. The said driving link of chain can be used to replace ordinary driving link of chain to construct a single-stage transmission or multi-stage transmission. And the said driving link of chain can be used to engage with a V-shaped groove having the activity and variability forming between an umbrella rotary table group of the driving wheel and an umbrella rotary table group of the driven wheel. Thus, a variable drive may be constructed of the driving link of chain, a governor and the V-shaped groove having the activity and variability between an umbrella rotary table group of the driven wheel. Comparing with the conventional tightwire loop, belt loop or toothed belt loop, the engagement of the driving chain having the engaging member and the actuating member and the umbrella toothed rotary table groups, the radial (or umbrella) web rotary table groups or the ratchet rotary table groups is easier. Furthermore, the driving chain is of simply structure and powerful transmission and it can't take place belt creep or disengagement no matter whether the rotate speed is quick or slow.
