PURPOSE: A device and method for preventing sudden start of an automatic transmission vehicle is provided to prevent sudden start and an accident caused by excess feed of fuel, by letting a driver know excessive RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) and controlling fuel quantity. CONSTITUTION: A fuel supply control device of an automatic transmission vehicle has an accelerator pedal position sensor(1), to detect the operating angle of an accelerator pedal; a vehicle speed sensor(2), to detect the traveling speed of the vehicle; an engine RPM-detecting sensor(3); a fuel tank(4) having a fuel pump(41) within; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,5); and a fuel supply unit(7), to control the fuel quantity supplied to a cylinder of an engine(6), through control of the ECU. In a device and method for preventing sudden start of the automatic transmission vehicle, a fuel transfer control unit(8) controlled by the ECU is installed between the fuel pump and the fuel supply unit, and a valve(9) opened and shut many times per second is additionally installed. A bypass pipe(10) is installed between the valve and the fuel tank. Accordingly, sudden start caused by excessive fuel supply is prevented.
