A sandwich construction plate for supporting work pieces is assembled from a number of cells comprising square sides, open at the top and bottom and with the corners slanted for form octagonal shapes. The sloping corners are profiled to take profiled linking strips which are inserted vertically and which are secured by adhesive and/or dovetailed interlocking profiles. Some of the corner profiles are fitted with recess mounted threaded sleeves to take threaded fasteners, to secure the work pieces.
