The invention concerns method for monitoring proper operation of an air evacuating valve of a motor vehicle tank air evacuation system. Said method is characterized in that the evacuation valve (30) is pulse-controlled at a predetermined operating point, the pressure in the inlet pipe (P <sb>Saugrohr</sb>) being then measured and modelled, and the pressure in the inlet pipe (P <sb>Saugrohr</sb>) is compared to the modelled pressure. If the correlation is within the predetermined limits, it indicates that the tank evacuation valve (30) is operating properly, otherwise, it indicates that said valve is faulty.
