The steering tie rod, especially for an automobile, is in two telescopic sections (S5,S6) to lengthen or shorten it. Hooks (S10) are fitted to the inner tie rod section (S6), to lock into notches in the outer telescopic section (S5) under spring (S9) pressure. A retainer (S7) is within the inner telescopic section, with a wedge-shaped piston (S8) over it, to open it out against a sealing ring. |
