A first bar (2) is joined vertically to a holding element (1) fixed to the ceiling or a similar area (5) by inserting the upper end (9) of the bar (2) into a cylindrical extension (8) at the lower side of the element (1) and securing it with a bolt horizontally inserted into a circular groove (12). A second bar (3), which can be rotated around a horizontal axle (16), is joined to the lower end (14) of the first bar (2). The curtain rod can be conveniently moved into a horizontal position even when fitted into an awkward place like the space around a dormer window or behind the box containing the wound-up shutters.
