The method involves first lowering the right and left dipped beam light modules when changing to the mode for which the headlamp was not designed using a regulation device to lower the light-dark boundary. At least one module facing the new road side is also horizontally pivoted towards that side so that the dipped light area is used to illuminated the road as well as the edge of the road in the other mode.
