The invention relates to workpiece-holders for the universal chuck of the machine tools which, when required, may be subjected to a chip removing process, depending on the surface required for gripping the workpieces with the view of subsequent processing operations, so that scratches or deformation be avoided. According to the invention, the workpiece-holder comprises a base body (1) and an expendable detachable tablet (2). The base body (1) is made up of steel and it generally remains fixed on the jaw of the universal chuck, while the tablet (2) is made up of aluminium.
