METHOD FOR PURIFYING AMMONIA-CONTAINING EFFLUENT

A method for purifying a effluent water containing NH3 which comprises a step of releasing NH3 from the effluent water containing NH3 to transfer it to a gas phase, a step of heating a gas containing NH generated in the previous step, and a step of contacting the heated gas containing NH3 with a NH3 decomposition catalyst having denitrification function, to thereby decompose NH3 into N2 and H2O. The method is advantageous in that it is free from the formation of a secondary pollutant.
