The tubular rotary slider (1) is mounted in the region of the lower dead centre point of the piston (4) outside of the cylinder chamber (6) between the cylinder wall of the cylinder (2) and the crank housing wall of the crank housing (3) and is provided in the upper area facing the combustion chamber with a radial opening (12) for controlling the gas change in the cylinder chamber (6), as well as at the lower end facing the crank chamber with toothed gearing (9). The slider is driven by the crankshaft and rotates about the cylinder axis (5). For a two stroke engine the rotary slider has underneath the through opening and above the toothed gearing an inlet opening for drawing in the fuel air mixture.
