The refuse container has a container bin section (1) and a flap lid (4). The lid has fasteners (10,14) with a collar projecting outwards, to secure the edges of a bin liner bag. The lid is attached to the container bin by one or two identical hinges (11,12), with the collar (10) extending from one hinge to the other.
