A grip claw for lifting lengths of cut wood has a pair of grip claws and a hand grip. The operator simply presses the claws onto the wood and lifts the hand grip. The hand grip is set at an angle to the claws, e. g. at right angles, for an improved ergonomic grip. The hand grip is attached to a support strip on which the two claws are hinged using a simple parallelogram linkage for improved effect. The claw is released when the operator lowers the wood onto the ground.
