PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A BASIC POLYMERIC ALUMINIUM SILICATE-SULPHATE

The invention relates to a process for producing a basic polymeric aluminum silicate-sulphate and to an installation for producing the same. The process comprises initially mixing an alkali metal silicate solution, an alkali metal aluminate solution and optionally a third component, there resulting an alkaline intermediary mixture, followed by slowly adding said mixture to an acidic aluminum sulphate solution. The installation comprises a vertical recirculation column (30) having an outlet (43) and a side wall (31) provided with an outlet (34) forming a first circuit (35) for the fluid flowing therethrough, and said circuit being connected to the outlet (34) and to the inlet of a vigorous mixer (36), and by some injection means (40 and 41) there are introduced the acidic reacting solutions and an intermediate solution which are discharged from the vigorous mixer (36) into the column by means of a second circuit (38) for the fluid flowing therethrough, said second circuit (38) ending in an outlet (39).
