PURPOSE: An adapter having a charging circuit is provided to reduce the manufacturing cost of the adapter by charging a rechargeable battery with a voltage converted to a lower voltage level in the adapter. CONSTITUTION: A voltage converter(26) is comprised of a voltage input unit(24), coils(28,30), and a rectifier(32). The voltage input unit(24) receives an AC(Alternating Current) voltage from an AC power source. The coils(28,30) receives the AC voltage through the voltage input unit(24) to convert it into a desired AC level. The rectifier(32) receives the converted AC voltage from the coils(28,30) and rectifies and converts it into a driving voltage of an electronic device. An adapter(22) includes a voltage output unit(44) for receiving the driving voltage converted from the voltage converter(26) to output it. A charger(46) is comprised of a constant current source(60), a rechargeable battery(62), and a charging device(58). The constant current source(60) and the rechargeable battery(62) receive the driving voltage from the voltage converter(26) to generate a constant current. The charging device(58) charges the rechargeable battery(62) with the constant current received from the constant current source(60).
