An anti-reentry apparatus for reverting ventricular arrhythmias. The apparatus includes at least two electrodes to administer biphasic stimulation to the myocardium and a pacemaker to provide biphasic stimulation to the electrodes. The biphasic stimulation includes a first phase at a first phase polarity, amplitude, shape and duration, and a second phase at a second, larger phase polarity, amplitude, shape and duration. The pacemaker repeatedly provides biphasic stimulation so long as fibrillation is detected.
