FIELD: applying of coatings upon tool materials, possibly for metal cutting processes. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of applying upon rough blades ion-plasma coating containing TixAl1-xN, where x = 0.7 - 0.5 with thickness value 2 - 4 micrometers, applying upon semifinished and finished blades coating containing TixAl1-xN, where x = 0.1 - 0.2 with thickness 2 - 4 micrometers and applying upon sizing portion of blade coating containing ultradispersed diamond with thickness layer 1 - 2 micrometers.
