FIELD: organic chemistry, cosmetics, detergents. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composition for washing keratin materials containing in cosmetically acceptable medium at least one anionic surface-active washing agent, at least one oxyethyleneted sorbitan ester with saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched aliphatic C8-C30-acid where number of ethylene oxide mole is below or equal to 10. Weight ratio of anionic washing surface- -active agent to sorbitan ester with aliphatic C8-C30-acid is from 0.5 to 5. Invention relates also to the usage of the above-mentioned sorbitan ester with aim to attenuate irritating effect of eye and improve thickening property of composition for washing keratin materials and to method of washing keratin materials. Composition shows soft effect on eyes and improved thickening property. EFFECT: improved and valuable properties of composition. 17 cl, 1 dwg
