PURPOSE: A communication relay device and a credit authorization terminal having the same are provided to connect a credit authorization terminal to a payment system server through an Internet network which supplies a cheap and high speed communication without a difficulty for securing a line. CONSTITUTION: A serial level converter(210) transmits and receives information to a credit authorization terminal(100). A ROM(230) stores control program data for controlling an operation of a system. A RAM(240) temporarily stores data being generated in a system control operation and information being inputted and output. An MCU(Main Control Unit)(220) encodes or decodes payment request information and payment approval information received through the serial level converter(210) and a cable/ADSL modem(300), respectively, based on the control program data. An Ethernet controller(250) transmits and receives information to the cable/ADSL modem(300) capable of being connected to an Internet network.
