PURPOSE: An AV(Audio Visual) automatic dimmer for a vehicle, using an automatic lighting system is provided to perform automatic dimming by a signal of a tail lamp or head lamp flickered according to the surrounding brightness of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An AV automatic dimmer for a vehicle comprises an automatic lighting system. The automatic lighting system includes such a sensor as a photo sensor(30), to detect the surrounding brightness of the vehicle. A signal detected from the photo sensor is supplied to the automatic lighting system and a controller(20) of the dimmer at the same time. The controller receiving the signal controls an AV monitor(10). The automatic lighting system and the dimmer are operated by the surrounding brightness, and the automatic lighting system and the dimmer are simultaneously operated by one device for detecting the intensity of the surrounding brightness. Accordingly, a photo sensor to be installed to the dimmer is not required and therefore, the cost is reduced and restriction of design in the AV monitor is removed.
