PURPOSE: A balance shaft device is provided to improve a layout of an engine and to reduce the size of the engine by mounting the balance shaft device on an outer portion of the engine by using engine components. CONSTITUTION: An alternator(9) is installed at a rear portion of an alternator pulley(2). A first balance shaft(12) is connected between an alternator shaft(10) and a cylinder block(11). The balance shaft(12) has an eccentric axis with respect to the alternator shaft(10) and supports the cylinder block(11) by interposing a bearing(13). An end(12a) of the balance shaft(12) is press-fitted into the alternator shaft(10). One end of a second balance shaft is press-fitted into an air-conditioner tension pulley, and the other end of the second balance shaft is rotatably inserted into the cylinder block(11) by interposing a bearing.
