PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high-speed access network of a transmission rate of about 1 Gbit/s for downlink by using an inexpensive Fabry-Perot laser. SOLUTION: An optical transmitter-receiver and an optical communication network adopt a wavelength of 1.3 μm for a downstream signal (downlink) and a wavelength of 1.5 μm for an upstream signal (uplink), and also adopt an asymmetrical transmission system where the transmission rate differs between the uplink and the downlink so as to realize a transmission rate of about 1 Gbit/s for the downlink. |
