PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having high energy density, and superior stability and safety in charging and discharging cycle with high capacity. SOLUTION: In this secondary battery having at least a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte as components, an active material of at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode includes at least one compound selected from a group composed of radical compounds represented by the formula (1) and the like. In formula (1), X1 and X2 are independently a group of formula (3), an alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group or a cyano group, and R1 -R8 are each independently a halogen atom or an alkyl group. In the formula (3), R10 is an alkyl group or an optionally substituted phenyl group. |
