COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND MULTIPLEXER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multiplexer and a communication system which do not need buffer capacity corresponding to the length of packets in multiplexing the packets divided and stored in a series of transferred ATM cells. SOLUTION: A first packet multiplexer 102 adds identification information corresponding to transfer paths to data stored in 1th to Mth ATM cells 1091 -109M which are received first from respective terminals. The multiplexer 102 multiplexes the data to generate ATM cells to be sent to subsequent paths. A second packet multiplexer 103 performs the same procedures. In this way, identification information is repeatedly added. Accordingly, an Internet service provider 105 can reproduce the respective packets because the identification information connect the same data and code the data at the position of tail information. Since the multiplexer 102 can send the ATM cells without reproducing the original packets, a buffer memory with a large capacity is not needed.
