PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for attaching signal detector with which a signal detector can be fixed on an optical pickup without being distorted. SOLUTION: In a position adjustment device 50 for performing positioning adjustment when mounting a photodetection part (photodetector) 2 for receiving a laser beam reflected on an optical recording medium (optical disk) 7 and converting it to an electric signal on an optical pickup 1, this device is provided with a holding table 20 for holding the optical pickup 1 and an arm 4 for attracting a metallic sheet (iron sheet) 9 on which the photodetection part 2 is fixed with a magnetic force, moving this metal sheet 9 a little inside a mounting part 1a of the optical pickup 1 held on the holding table 20 and adjusting the position, and the arm 4 is provided with an electromagnet 10 for freely attachably and detachably attracting the metallic sheet 9.
