PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline zinc battery having superior heavy load discharging characteristic. SOLUTION: In this alkaline zinc battery 1 using a positive electrode mix 3 including β nickel oxyhydroxide as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode mix 5 including zinc as a main negative electrode active material, and the alkali aqueous solution as electrolyte, the positive electrode mix 3 is prepared by mixing β nickel oxyhydroxide, graphic powder and potassium hydroxide aqueous solution by a predetermined weight ratio. The β nickel oxyhydroxide is prepared by chemical oxidation, the particles have spherical shape, and an average size of the particles is within a range of 5-50 μm. Whereby the alkaline zinc battery of superior heavy load discharging characteristic can be manufactured. |
