PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a signal for inhibiting viewing which is superimposed on an analog video signal, and to display an effect corresponding to the detected result by adding it to a picture corresponding to a digitized signal. SOLUTION: A personal computer 1 detects a signal for inhibiting viewing for protecting a copyright which is superimposed on a video signal (analog) from a video recorder 3, and displays an effect corresponding to the detected result by adding it to a picture corresponding to a digitized signal. That is, even at the time of displaying a picture by digitizing the analog video signal, the display of the picture can be limited based on the display inhibiting signal.
