An electric cable consists of a conductor surrounded by insulation composed of inner and outer layers. The inner layer consists of a halogen-free polymer material, and the outer layer consists of an oil resistant plastic. The insulation is coextruded. The inner layer has an aluminium hydroxide flame protection agent, and the polymer component is a polyolefin. The outer layer is formed by a polyester elastomer and/or a mechanically robust polymer. The polymers of both layers are chosen so they adhere to each other in the extruded condition.
