PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a laser output of an optical disk recorder/player configured so as to record a signal on a disk with laser beams emitted from an optical pickup. SOLUTION: This optical disk recorder/player comprises a photodetector 1 for main beams which is irradiated with main beams reflected from a disk surface and also consists of four divided parts, part A, part B, part C and part D, a first photodetector 2 for sub beams which is irradiated with first sub beams reflected from the disk surface and also consists of two divided parts, part E and part F, and a second photodetector 3 for sub beams which is irradiated with second sub beams reflected from the disk surface and also consists of two divided parts, part G and part H, detects offset quantity with signals obtained from the parts A, B, C, D, E, F and H constituting the respective photodetectors, and corrects a laser output on the basis of the offset quantity. |
