PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the cogging torque generated in a dynamo-electric machine such as a motor, a generator, etc., having a permanent magnet rotor. SOLUTION: Rotors (12) of two permanent magnet dynamo-electric machines (10A and 10B), having the identical number of poles and the identical number of slots, and further, approximately same characteristics, are combined so as to make their respective cogging torques cancel each other. Or cogging torque cancelling machines (30, 50, and 70), which generate cogging torques having approximately the same frequencies and approximately the same magnitudes as those of rotors (12C and 12D) may be coupled with the rotors (12C and 12D) to cancel the cogging torques of the rotors (12C and 12D) by the cogging torques of the cogging torque cancelling machines (30, 50, and 70).
