摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform a process control with a simple and easy constitution by utilizing the shifting action of a transfer/carrying belt. SOLUTION: As a process control mechanism of a digital color copying machine provided with 1st to 4th image forming stations S1 to S4 separately provided with a photoreceptor drum 5 and the transfer/carrying belt 44c for carrying a recording medium P, and for performing the process control by detecting the density or the line width of a developer pattern on a calibration plate and the transfer/carrying belt, the transfer/carrying belt is constituted so that the belt can be shifted to a monochromatic image forming position at the time of forming a monochromatic image by using only the 1st image forming station, and also, the belt can be shifted to the multicolor image forming position at the time of forming the multicolor image by using all the image forming stations. At the time of shifting the belt to the monochromatic image forming position, the calibration is performed, on the other hand, at the time of shifting to the multicolor image forming position, the density of the developer pattern or the line width of the pattern on the transfer/carrying belt is detected.
