PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus the parts of which relating to control with respect to number of photographing images and needing external communication are designed to be a unified module so as to attain flexible sales form and to enhance the convenience of users. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 10 is provided with: a main body 150 having; an optical unit 152 acquiring an image; and an imaging unit 154 picking up and image acquired by the optical unit 152 as image data as photoelectric conversion: and a replacement unit 170 having an image recording section 182 storing the image data picked up by the imaging unit 154; and number information storage section 186 storing information to identify number of image data stored in the image recoding section 182. The main body 150 and the replacement unit 170 are attached/detached to/from each other.
