PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an electronic mail communication apparatus, such that no character garbling occurs in a terminal apparatus on a reception side, and such that fixed form words represented by a language, capable of being understood by a receiver can be sent. SOLUTION: Transmission data is generated by executing a conversion processing for bringing character string data attached to an electronic mail into correspondence with the kinds of character sets processable with a calling terminal apparatus. Further, character string data of fixed form words prepared, using standard character sets for every kinds of a plurality of languages is stored in a every language fixed form words memory section 13, and the fixed form words registered in the individual language fixed form words memory section is selected, on the basis of individual kinds of languages set in the called terminal apparatus, to generate transmission data based upon the character string data. Capability information concerning the kinds of character sets and the kinds of languages is obtained from MDN data in a reply mail and registered in an individual destination terminal capability memory section 12 or is obtained in a communication process following the ESMTP procedure.
